Information
Accurate attendance is vital for the safety and security of students and staff. Please review Absence Reporting Information for more detailed information.
- Contact school office for absences/late arrivals/early departures (not the classroom teacher)
- Parents and student must enter/exit through main doors and report to the Receptionist upon arrival/departure
- Make sure all children in your household understand how these protocols affect them
- To report absences/late arrivals/early departures, email reception@saskatoonchristianschool.ca or call 306-343-1494 and press "1" for attendance line
Student safety is very important to SCS. To that end, we have provided protocols to ensure students are
supervised and safe at all times, including hosting the “After School Program” which is provided and run by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Saskatoon.
- Students are supervised between the hours of 8:30 am and 3:30 pm. Students are discouraged from arriving too early for school and should arrive between 8:30 am and 8:40 am (first bell) only.
- After school, students in Kindergarten to Grade 6 are required to be supervised once the 3:30 pm bell rings. For the safety of the children, any Kindergarten to Grade 6 students found in the school after the 3:30 pm bell will be considered as participating in the After School Program and parents will be invoiced accordingly.
- The After School Program is provided on a fee-for-service basis through the Boys and Girls Clubs of Saskatoon. Saskatoon Christian School provides the venue but does not handle registration or payments for this program. View their website for rates and more information and contact them directly for inquiries or to register.
- The After School Program will run through the school year and commences on the first full day of school. Afternoon sessions end at 6 pm.
- SCS does NOT have a "before school program".
- Students in Grades 7 to 12 can be in the Commons Area or outside with the understanding that there is no supervision after 3:30 pm. They will not be allowed in the hallways. If a student in Kindergarten to Grade 6 has an older sibling in Grade 7-12, the older sibling may supervise the younger ones in the Commons Area or outside as long as they stay together (excerpt from page 10 of the SCS Parent/Student Handbook).
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM - BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF SASKATOON
SCS is pleased to partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Saskatoon (“BGCS”) to host our After School Program (“the Program”). All SCS students are welcome to participate but the program is intended for students enrolled in Kindergarten to Grade 6. The Program will run through the school year. Afternoon sessions end at 6 p.m. We DO NOT have a "Before School" program at SCS.
SCS offers space free of charge but the Program is administered entirely by BGCS so all enquiries related to the Program should be emailed to the Before & After School Program.
Although Saskatchewan does not maintain a standard of care for before and after school programs, the BGCS After School Program is operated according to the HIGH FIVE® standard of quality for children’s recreation and sport and, as such, adheres to 5 principles of healthy child development – a caring adult, friends, participation, play, and mastery. Snacks, if necessary, are the responsibility of each parent but must be “nut free”.
To participate, your family must complete the After School Program Registration Form and pay the annual registration fee directly to the Boys and Girls Club. The After School Program is provided on a fee-for-service basis. You will be billed after each month by email and payment is only accepted by pre-authorized direct debit or pre-authorized credit card.
PLEASE NOTE: In order to ensure the success of the Program and the safety of our students, any K-6 students found in the school 15 minutes after the last bell at the end of the school day will be considered as participating in the After School Program and parents will be invoiced accordingly. If K-6 students have a sibling in grade 7-12, they can wait with their sibling in the Commons Area and are not required to participate in the After School program. T
When picking up your child(ren), please go to the south boot room door by the Multipurpose Room. Follow the instructions posted on the door. The Before and After School program team member will bring your child(ren) to you.

We are happy to offer the Fun Lunch (Healthy Hunger) fundraiser. This optional program is an online ordering service where students may order lunch and have it delivered to the school. The service will be available frequently throughout the year with varying restaurant options. And the best part is, proceeds from these lunches will go towards our current fundraising compaign (and other capital needs)!
This fundraiser is open to SCS students and staff only. If you have ordered before, you will have to add the student name(s) to your account again each school year.

GENERAL PARKING LOT RULES
Although much of the congestion that happens at the start and end of the school day should be reduced because of the 30 parking stalls we added, there are some “rules” that should be observed to help maximize everyone’s enjoyment and safety while in the parking lot:
- Traffic around the parking lot is ONE WAY. This means that you enter the parking lot on the side farthest from the school building (the east side) and exit along the side closest to the building (the west side).
- The curb lane next to the school building is only for picking up and dropping off. The maximum “stop time” for private vehicles in this curb lane is 2 MINUTES. There should not be any unattended private vehicles parked in this curb lane.
- When stopping in the curb lane to pick up or drop off, please stop as close to the curb as possible. This allows the maximum amount of space for cars to flow past your vehicle.
- If you expect your planned wait time in the parking lot to exceed 2 minutes, please park your vehicle in a designated parking stall. Designated parking stalls are those with yellow painted lines on BOTH sides of your vehicle. Do not stop or park anywhere else as this creates unnecessary congestion and can block vehicles attempting to enter or exit proper parking stalls.
- Although you can enter the student parking lot from either the south or the north access points, there is only one exit – the north one (near the dumpsters). As the sign indicates, do not exit from the south access point (adjacent to the school’s gate).
- Please refrain from parking in the labelled designated parking spots, even if “just for a minute”. These spots should be available for designated users only at all times.
STUDENT PARKING LOT RULES
Student vehicles are to be parked in the area designated ‘Student Parking’ located on the east side of the main parking lot. Students are expected to follow these guidelines:
- Student drivers must use caution in the school’s parking lot and driveway.
- The established speed limit is 30 km/h; pedestrians always have the right of way.
- Reckless driving, speeding, leaving school without authorization, or failure to follow these policies will result in the denial of permission to drive to school and/or use of the school parking facilities.
- Student drivers are expected to be in class on time and must take into account the time required to walk from the parking area to class. Students must register the make, model, and license plate number with the School Office.
- Students who drive to school are expected to park their vehicles in the student parking lot only. Students are not permitted to park in staff/visitor parking lot or to use the electrified stalls.

SCS staff selects several high school students to meet with numerous times during the school year. These students make up their Student Advisory Group. The goal is to ensure that all students have an adult to connect with regarding school academics, relationships, school procedures, etc. Each time these groups meet, there will be list of meeting times outside teacher's classrooms the day before. Once your child has completed their meeting time, they are free to leave for the day (afternoon classes will be cancelled).
Please watch for meeting dates in the Royal Ink Newsletter.

Parents must have an approved Driver Authorization Form signed by the Principal for transporting children other than their own to and from any school authorized event (field trips, sports teams, ski trip, outdoor education activities, etc). Forms can be downloaded or obtained at the School Office.
NOTE: Students can drive themselves to school events, but not other students.
DURING THE COLDER MONTHS, PLEASE REMEMBER THE FOLLOWING:
- Students go outside for recess and lunch when the temperature (with the wind chill) is minus 26 degrees Celsius or warmer.
- If weather conditions are poor, you should make a safe decision about traveling to school. Parents must report all absences/late arrivals/early departures to the School Office. Call 306-343-1494 and press "1" or email 24/7.
- Ensure you have an alternate plan for your children in the event you are unable to get to the school for pick up.
- In cases of severe weather, the school may invoke emergency dismissal procedures. Parents will receive instructions and should check the SCS or 650 CKOM websites in the mornings for emergency notifications.
- You should ensure that emergency contact information is current and provide a telephone number where you can be reached immediately.
During the warmer months, Please remember the following:
- Students will remain inside the school when there is thunder and lightning, driving rain, excessive winds, or poor air quality. This means elementary students stay indoors during recess and during the noon hour.
- Students normally go outside for recess and noon hour during the rain. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather and is prepared with rain boots, a raincoat, umbrellas, and a change of socks or pants if necessary.
- When the weather is hot, students should follow the SCS Dress Code Policy and be prepared with hats, sunblock, and a refillable water bottle.
